PTSI has developed a comprehensive School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) course that prepares candidates to meet the New York State Education Department (NYSED) training and regulatory requirements.

Day 1: 10 AM - 5 PM

Days 2 - 5: 8 AM - 5 PM

The SBDI certification enables you to:

• Administer NYSED Physical Performance Test

• Teach & Supervise NYSED Pre-Service Training

• Teach & Supervise NYSED Driver Refreshers

• Teach & Supervise the NYSED Basic Course and the Advanced Course

Course Requirements (NYSED)
New York State Education Department

(You must meet all of the following)

• Successfully completed the Basic Course (since 1977)

• Successfully completed the Advanced Course or other Defensive Driving Course

• Possess High School Diploma or GED

• Currently employed in Pupil Transportation

Additionally you must meet one of the following qualifications:

• 19-A Certified Examiner or

• Two years experience as a Driver Trainer or Transportation Administrator or

• Certified to teach another PIRP Course
